I suppose I am a 'marriage-wrecker'. I help couples out of marriages and relationships. In 14 years I have never once come across a single client who is happy to be in my office. Every single client has been either upset or angry or both.
I also help unmarried couples deal with the division of their finances where they hold property and assets together. They too are generally miffed at having to take legal advice because of the breakdown of their relationship. To suggest that making the process less painful is going to undermine marriage or family life is simply wrong.
I am keeping a close eye on the bill and it's progress.
Institute Director Colin Hart has said: "We are already seeing a deeply worrying shift in young people's attitudes, away from Christian marriage and lifelong commitment to your husband or wife. Forty-two percent of marriages already end in divorce but the Government is carrying on as it wants it to be 100 per cent."
